Patterned Glass Tiebacks

In the Victorian age, when window dressing was serious business, decorative curtain tiebacks were familiar household accessories.  But tiebacks weren't just another pretty facet of 19th-century ostentation.  They were as multipurpose as the curtains they held.  Aside from assuring domestic privacy, heavily draped window treatments provided protection against cold drafts, outdoor pollution, and strong sunlight that faded unstable vegetable dyes in rugs and furnishing fabrics.  And decorators today are adding new uses... towel holders, scarf or ribbon holders or anything your imagination might suggest.

Please note that these pieces can also be bought as picture hangers.  See our "Pattern Glass Picture Hangers" section.

These very old pieces are in mint condition.  The fiery opalescent gets bluer when used on a dark background and lightens to a softer blue hue on a light background.  This pattern "Feather and Shell" is quite rare, and I'm always thrilled to find it.  We have just two of these at present.
